NETAJI'S POLITICAL THOUGHTS & IDEAS
Since joining the freedom movement
of the country, in 1921, Subhash Chandra Bose has been
speaking in clear terms in support of socialism. His ideas
on socialism are important and still relevant in the present
context of the political situation in India and abroad.

Delivering the Presidential address at the All India Trade
Union Congress in Calcutta, on 4 July 1931, Subhash Chandra
said:
'1
have no doubt in my own mind that the salvation of India,
as of the world, depends on socialism. India should learn
from and profit by the experience of other nations --
but India should be able to evolve her own methods in
keeping with her own needs and her own environment. In
applying any theory to practice, you can never rule out
geography or history. If you attempt it, you are bound
to fail. India should, therefore, evolve her own form
of socialism. When the whole world is engaged in socialistic
experiments, why should we not do the same? It may be
that the form of socialism which India will evolve will
have something new and original about it which will be
of benefit to the whole world.'
